CHESS Health Partners with North Carolina DHHS to Expand Recovery Support

Rochester, NY—CHESS Health is proud to announce our partnership with the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) to provide critical support for individuals working toward recovery from substance use disorders (SUD) across the state. This innovative collaboration will make CHESS Health’s proven eRecovery solution available to thousands of North Carolinians struggling with SUD, offering a comprehensive digital support system to foster and enhance long-term recovery.

The powerful Connections recovery support app, part of the eRecovery solution, provides 24/7 access to peer recovery specialists, moderated peer support groups, on-demand digital Cognitive Behavioral Therapy training, and comprehensive recovery tools. Most importantly, this tool, which is fully funded by NCDHHS, is completely free for eligible North Carolinians who enroll through their provider.

“Our solution offers individuals a continuous ‘connectedness’ that has been shown to reduce feelings of isolation,” said Hans Morefield, CHESS Health’s Chief Executive Officer. “Individuals who use Connections have been shown to be better equipped to manage risk moments—triggers, cravings, anxiety, and negative thinking—that occur between visits, so they stay in treatment longer and realize a better, long-term quality of life. This results in lower cost of care and better long-term outcomes.”

eRecovery will be introduced gradually over two years, reaching more than 100 organizations, including SUD providers, mental health organizations, collegiate recovery programs, harm reduction programs, crisis hotlines, drug courts, mobile response teams, re-entry programs, recovery housing, and certified community behavioral health clinics.

This digital solution provides an additional tool that works seamlessly alongside clinical treatments. “There is no one-size-fits-all model to recovery,” said Kelly Crosbie, MSW, LCSW, Director of the NCDHHS Division of Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities, and Substance Use Services. “We are pleased to offer North Carolinians an additional, evidence-based tool to support their recovery, when and where they need it.”
