Getting More Patients into Treatment, Faster

the Department of Human Services (OKDHS) implemented eIntervention technology, an innovative closed-loop referral system, to streamline the referral process.

Oklahoma has faced significant obstacles in facilitating timely access to treatment for individuals with substance use disorder (SUD). The absence of an electronic referral system hindered communication among treatment providers, leading to issues such as lost referrals and prolonged wait times. In response, the Department of Human Services (OKDHS) implemented eIntervention technology, an innovative closed-loop referral system, to streamline the referral process.

Within just 60 days, multiple workflows connecting detox, outpatient, and crisis center providers were established. Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, over 35 organizations joined the platform in the first six months, significantly enhancing treatment coordination and communication.
